Its popularity was first predicted by the video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6oSZeZm4bNE This Meme Is from the Future. You Don't Understand It Yet], where a cyan Amongus is slapped by some sort of object.

Amogus would turn critical in 2020, when people were locked inside and forced to do psychological experiments on each other. Among Us and the Streamer formed a symbiotic relationship where one made the other more internet popular.

The curse began to wear off in Summer 2021, when pet owners got tired of their Amonglets and started donating them to the local Amazon returns bin stores.
